I figure that items for sale or services should go into classified adds!

HockeyRobert4, you'll need to repost your ad in the classifieds section please.

Cheers!

if you look down the subject list, the last five entries prior to this one are all for services too.

lets make sure the rules apply to everyone...

Why do they put Braille on the drive-through bank machines?

Coaldust, I've read your Special Olympics comment a couple of times now on this site, and I find it insensitive and offensive. How about finding a new tagline to display your superior wit?

I agree, and have removed it.

It is interesting that you choose to withdraw and then reinstate my posting rights, at will.

Noone, either other posters, or admin has corresponded with me or ask me first to remove or alter my tag line, at any point.

I have seen vicious personal attacks with real peoples names banded around this forum at will and without that persons permission, people have been identified or at least attempted to put names to logins - with moderators doing nothing to police this, yet whilst crude - a quote about the irony of arguing with unnamed people about who is most right in an arguement on the internet gets the thought polices' most swift intervention to date.

Now you (whoever in admin is reading this) might deem in your own personal judgement as to what is acceptable or not - or what your standards are - and you may well be totally in the right, - afterall it is your sandbox to do with as you like...

but just like the above example of moving one person post across to classified, - you need to do things the right way, and not leave the other 3 or 4 other subjects beneath this one for other services sitting there...

Coaldust, here is the email that was sent to you on 04/07/2008 at 12:17.

"Thank you for your email.
I'm sorry if you feel you've been singled out or treated unfairly. You still have full posting rights. Occassionally people do post items in the forums that should be in the classifieds and we should make more of an effort to correct them, however this is a voluntary-run website and we don't always have time. There are two other items in the open forum that should have been moved and we will try to be more vigilant in the future.

Please do go ahead and post as much as you like in the relevant sections!"

Your posting rights have never been altered in any way.

Asking you to remove your tag line should not have been necessary, you should have figured it out yourself that it wasn't appropriate. It was, however, appropriate to wait for a complaint before having it removed as the moderators do try not to censor at will. V only moved your post after someone else mentioned that they thought it was in the wrong section.

If you look at the first page of the Open Discussion forum, there are 2 items (not 3 or 4, or 5 as you previously stated) which could be classed as sale/service. One was regarding a fundraiser for a child with cancer, which deserves all the promotion it can get, and the other is for a childcare service, which is currently a very hot topic in Fernie. It seems to be appropriate to leave those two items, however nothing else would be classed as a sale or service post.

Oh, and they put braille on the bank machines because they're not exclusively for drive-through, some of us do occasionally get out of our cars and walk, and once a blind person (who may have been driven TO the machine) has been given the sequence as it comes up on the screen I'm sure they can remember which order to press the buttons. That tagline is even worse than the last.

How's this for a tagline-

Sometimes it's a good idea to read over your post before hitting the "post comment" button...

I wasn't going to add any more to this thread, but I now just want to make one point:

An arbitrary line was crossed, and rather than trying to push that line, why not try to work within it?

Alba doesn't need to make any justifications. If you believe your tagline shouldn't have been removed then you're coming to the wrong site.
